Welcome
Thank you for visiting the Lifelong Learning Network!
Founded in 1993, the Network is a loosely connected group of scholars, teachers, philosophers, historians, outdoor people, environmentalists, change agents, artists, authors and other concerned and creative people who believe that change is possible regardless of the barriers placed in front of them.
Being a network member is open to anyone who believes in moving forward and challenging the status quo.
What stifles progressive living is regressive thinking. Time does not stop. We cannot go back to the "good old days". The answer to today's problems cannot be found in yesterday's thoughts and actions. There is a loud clamor among people to fulfill their dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
We, the people who believe in the future, are committed to making this dream a reality by challenging every behavior, attitude and belief that restricts freedom of thought and action and makes us slaves to the past. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a promise. We have only today.
Let us make today count!
Change Agent's Creed
We hold these truths to be self-evident:
- One man's belief is another man's tyranny
- Faith is an individual practice not a community activity
- Wealth acquired by subterfuge is theft
- No man is an island, ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee
- "We" are more powerful than "I"
- None of us is as smart as all of us
- Tomorrow can take care of itself. It's today upon which we must focus
- Live simply, stay out of debt, save a lot, be happy and free
- No idea is sacred
- There is no fulfillment in life without love
- Keep the peace by telling the truth
- Artists are the conscience of a culture
- Mother Earth must be protected from corporate marauders
- Act as if, think as if, believe
- Tomorrow is always another day
- We can eat an elephant one bite at a time
- War is hell
- Greed is greed and not a virtue
- What comes around, goes around
- I am my brother's and sister's keeper
- Hell is the hole in the ground where they put your dead body; life is heaven
